WINE & FOOD WEEK ITALY: Detailed program
Arrival in Rome. Our staff will welcome you and accompain you wiht taxi to the Hotel Raffaello (or similar) or apartment located in the city centre of Rome. If you arrive soon in Rome, we will give you all necessary information to visit the city on your own in the afternoon: tips about the best shopping streets, the Top 20 things to do in Rome or the Top 20 hidden secrets of Rome To welcome you in the best way, our local guide will show you the most famous squares of Rome such as the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona in the afternoon. During the tour we stop for 6 Food & Wine tastings. Overnight stay in a central apartment or hotel in Rome.
Day 2 : BREAKFAST NEAR THE COLOSSEUM, MARKET OF TESTACCIO AND DINNER IN A PASTABAR
Begin your second day in Roma with a typical Italian breakfast with cappuccino and a crispy croissant. Meet our guide near the Colosseum and learn about the gladiatorial fights and the animal huntings. If you want to visit the Colosseum inside and the Roman Forum you can book a guided Tour of the Colosseum or enjoy a funny activity to explore the ancient Rome in a funny way: Golf-cart tours or by segway or bicycles. Our staff will be available on spot if you need further assistance. At lunch time we meet at the market of Testaccio where we try some typical Roman street food (6 tastings) such as supplì, fritti, trapizzino and a creamy gelato. After lunch our Tour Leader leaves you near the pyramid of Rome and you can enjoy a free afternoon to visit the circus Maximus, the keyhole on the Aventine hill, the Bocca della Verità, the Jewish Ghetto, the Theatre of Marcellus or the Protestant graveyard etc. For dinner we have chosen for you one of the best places in Rome to try a typical Pasta Carbonara. Overnight stay in a Central apartment or hotel in Rome.
Day 3 : BREAKFAST NEAR THE VATICAN, LUNCH AT CAMPO DEI FIORI AND DINNER AT TRASTEVERE
Let’s start the day with a breakfast in a nice caffetteria near the Vatican. Our guide tells you some curiosity about the vatican state, the smallest indipendent State in the world but if you want to visit the Sistine chapel and the vatican Museums we really recommend to book our guided Tour Vatican Museums, Sistine chapel and the basilica of St peter. We walk later in front of the Castel Sant Angelo towards the local Market at Campo dei Fiori where we have the possibility to taste Italian Specialities such as Olive oil with Truffle, Parmesan Cheese, Pecorino Cheese, Porchetta, Limoncello and a lot more. For lunch let’s enjoy a pizza in one of the best pizzerias in Rome: Ai Balestrari (or similar). After lunch you have free time to visit Piazza del Popolo, Villa borghese, the amazing view from the Pincio terrace but if you want you can book some experiences such as Pizza Making Course, a Cooking Class in one of the most exclusive locations in Rome. For dinner you try some Roman antipasti and a typical Roman plate such as Abbacchio, Saltimbocca or Coda alla Vaccinara served with seasonal vegetables in a typical Roman trattoria: Popi popi (or similar). The Trastevere Area is one the most authentic roman district where you can experience Rome as a real Roman. We recommend after Dinner to have a stroll in the lively district of Trastevere, which is full of narrow streets, small bars and restaurants as well as pubs and artists boutiques.Overnight in Rome.
SIENA
Today we meet early at the Bus station of Roma Tiburtina to take a modern and comfortable bus with air-condition to reach Siena. Before the departure we have a breakfast with cornetto and cappuccino. Once in Siena check in at the hotel Chiusarelli (or similar) or in a central apartment located in the city centre of Siena. After the check-in let us show you the Highlights of Siena, the beautiful medieval city of the Palio, the unique Piazza del Campo and the beautiful Cathedral, the high Tower del Mangia and much more. During the Tour let’s have some food stops to try local delicacies and enjoy a glass of local wine. Free afternoon to discover a little bit Siena on your own. Dinner at Osteria le sorelline (or similar) with a Pecorino cheese tasting and a Pici pasta plate, local specialty. The meal is served with local wine. Overnight in central apartment or hotel in Siena.
Day 5 : FREE DAY IN SIENA, POSSIBILITY TO BOOK A TOUR OF THE VAL D’ORCIA AND A WINE TASTING OF BRUNELLO
Breakfast in a nice caffetteria in Siena with Panforte and coffee/tea/cappuccino. Today we recommend to book a Tour of the Val d’Orcia. The Val d’Orcia has amazing landscapes and belongs to the Unesco list. The Tour is a private Tour with luxurious minivan with driver and includes a walk in Montalcino, a small hill town full of enoteche and Restaurants that are second to none. This area is the cradle of one the most famous italian wines, the excellent Brunello di Montalcino. Visit the Fanti Holding in the middle of the Tuscan Hills to Taste the notorious Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Wine in its territory, this will be a unique and guaranteed experience. Possibility to have lunch in the Wine Estate. After lunch drive through the yellow hills to have some of the most famous pictures of the Val d’Orcia framed by the Cypress trees. Have a stop in Pienza, the jewel of the Renaissance time and in Bagno Vignoni. Dinner in a typical Trattoria in Siena. (Lunch not included). Overnight in central apartment or hotel in Siena.
FLORENCE
Day 6: TOUR OF THE CHIANTI, WINE TASTING AND CHECK-IN IN FLORENCE
Breakfast in Siena. Our driver picks you up with a luxurious minivan with AC and drive along the picturesque street Via Chiantigiana towards Florence. We have a stop for a wine tasting in the original Area of the Chianti Wine, the so called Chianti Classico Area. We have a wine tasting to try three different Chianti wines and visit a Wine Estate, the vineyards and the Cellar. Lunch in Greve in Chianti in the historical Macelleria Falorni to try some local meat matched with a glass of chianti wine. We reach Florence in the afternoon. Check-in at the Grand Hotel Cavour (or similar) or in one of our favorite apartment in the city centre of Florence. Dinner in one of our beloved Trattorias in Florence: Sergio Gozzi (or similar). Overnight in central apartment in Florence.
Day 7 : FOOD TOUR OF FLORENCE
Breakfast in Florence and guided Tour of Florence .An authorized Tour Guide will make you discover Florence, an incredible city, home of the Italian Renaissance. You will be guided through the Ponte Vecchio, the most famous bridge of Florence, the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral (from outside) with the great Dome engineered by Brunelleschi, the David at Piazza della Signoria and much more. Last but not least you will try the most famous and the best local products such as crostini, coccoli fiorentini and a lampredotto sandwich with a glass of wine. Today you can also book an excursion of the museums, a unique experience such as a cooking class or a wine tasting. There is the possibility to book a Skip the Line Ticket for the famous Galleria degli Uffizi or to the Museo dell’Accademia to admire the real David of Michelangelo. Dinner in a typical trattoria Oltrarno, the most authentic area of Florence. Overnight in central apartment in Florence.
Day 8 : END OF THE TOUR
Enjoy an Italian breakfast in Florence to celebrate the end of a splendid Wine & Food Week in Italy. Possibility to book a transfer to the airport of Florence, Pisa or Rome.
