Tour description:
Pick up at Riva del Sole Resort and transfer by Minibus/Bus to Montalcino. On the way our Tour leader tells a little introduction to this marvelous part of Tuscany called Val d’Orcia, which belongs to the Unesco list.
Visit the Wine Estate Fanti with a local expert who describes all the process to produce one of the most famous DOCG wines in Italy Brunello di Montalcino. The guided Tour includes the visit of the vineyards, the cellars and a wine tasting with 3 glasses of wine. The wine tasting is very interesting because you can understand the difference between Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino, two wines made with Sangiovese grape but with different ageing.
You have also the possibility to buy some bottles if you want.
Drive towards Siena passing by the colorful and smooth hills of the Val d’Orcia decorated with cypress trees, vineyards, grain fields. We stop on our way to Siena in a typical Trattoria to have a typical lunch made in Tuscany. We start with a board with Pecorino cheese DOP from Pienza. Then we have a plate of pici, typical local pasta accompanied by some wine and finish with a dessert.
When we arrive in Siena, we have a walking tour with our authorized guide to visit the Highlights of Siena: Piazza del Campo, the tower of Mangia, Palazzo Pubblico and the Cathedral (from outside). Siena is one of the most beautiful medieval cities in Italy. In the historical centre of Siena you can really breathe a medieval atmosphere with narrow streets and medieval towers. Siena is also known worldwide for its horse race: the Palio which takes place two times a year in the Piazza del Campo.
Enjoy also a little bit of free time to discover the city on your own, to have a gelato or do some shopping.
Transfer back to Riva del Sole in Castiglione della Pescaia after about 8 hours Tour.
