Here is the perfect 3-day itinerary in Rome to make the best of your time and immerse yourself in the Roman way of life!

Day 1 – Explore the Ancient Rome and Savor Local Delights

Begin with a typical Roman breakfast – a freshly baked cornetto (Italian croissant) accompanied by a Cappuccino.

After breakfast, go visit the Colosseum from the outside. The gigantic amphitheater where brave gladiators once fought. Nearby are the Roman Forum, the centre of the Romans daily life.

Next, continue toward Piazza Venezia, where the monumental white marble structure, the Altare della Patria, stands proud as a symbol of Italy’s unification. 

Now take a pleasant walk to the impressive Pantheon, a very ancient building with a big hole in the roof! An absolute architectural masterpiece that inspired so many building around the world.

The adventure continues to Navona Square, a lively place with fountains and street performers, the perfect spot for people-watch! 

Take a break and have a tasty lunch of Carbonara pasta, a special dish from Rome, followed by a mouthwatering gelato in a one of the typical Gelaterias nearby.

In the evening, relax like a true Roman in a typical bar by sipping an Aperol Spritz, a popular Italian cocktail. Pair it with a platter of cold cuts and cheese.

Day 2 – Vatican State and Pizza

Visit the Vatican City, the smallest country in the world! Remember to buy tickets in advance to explore the Vatican Museums, you’ll get to see incredible artworks and visit the famous Sistine Chapel, have you heard about the ceiling painted by Michelangelo? 

From the Museums you can head to the Saint Peter’s Basilica, a grand church that represents a spiritual haven for many people around the world.

When hunger strikes, head to Borgo Pio street to enjoy a delicious Roman Pizza. The typical Roman pizza is thin, crispy and topped with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. Yum!

In the evening, go to the picturesque Trastevere district, known for its narrow cobbled streets. Young Roman’s favorite place to hang out. Enjoy a dinner at a local Trattoria, savoring either Amatriciana or Cacio e Pepe pasta. You might as well experience some Italian nightlife!

 

Day 3 – Romance and Street Food

On your final day, make your way to the famous Trevi Fountain, a beautiful fountain where you can make a wish by tossing a coin over your left shoulder to ensure your return to Rome. Then discover the Spanish Steps, a famous staircase with a beautiful church on top and a boat-shaped fountain at the bottom.  It’s a great place for pictures. 

Then, explore Villa Borghese and Pincio Terrace, a romantic park offering one of the best panoramic views of the city.

Stroll through its gardens, rent a boat on the small lake, or simply relax from the chaos of the city.

This is the perfect time to try some delicious street food nearby, such as Supplì (fried rice ball with tomato sauce), and pizza with mortadella (Romans favorite). Don’t forget to treat yourself to a dessert called maritozzo, a yummy pastry filled with sweet cream.
